We’ve all been frustrated standing in line behind these people
Sarah Bigler was frustrated, as we all would be, standing in line behind an old woman paying with coins. “I realized that the woman in front of me was taking quite a while, and I realized she was paying with change. I was at first frustrated and irritated thinking of my long day.”
Ishmael Gilbert was the Target cashier in her line and he was being very patient with the woman Sarah was impressed and took to FaceBook to write this. “I watched the young employee with this woman. I watched him help her count her change, ever so tenderly taking it from her shaking hands. I listened to him repeatedly saying ‘yes, ma’am,’ to her. When she asked if she had enough to buy a reusable bag, he told her she did and went two lines over to get one for her and then repackaged her items. Never once did this employee huff, gruff or roll his eyes. He was nothing but patient and kind.”
The old lady kept apologizing for holding up the line, but Ishmael kept telling her to relax and helped her count the coins, one by one.
When Sarah took a breath, she realized what she was witnessing right before her eyes.
Sarah’s 3 1/2 year old daughter was watching intently as this scenario unfolded.
Right there, she was learning a lesson that her mother could never teach her.
After posting the picture on FaceBook, with her message, Sarah and Ishmael were shocked at the number of shares they received. Ishmael is expected to receive a gift from Target who rewards their employees for going above and beyond.
